Obituary for
Winston Maxwell Keeping
In the loving care of his family, Max died peacefully on Thursday, October 1st, 2015 at age 73.
He will be greatly missed by sons George, Ted, Shane, Josh, John and Abby; granddaughters Tabetha, Lisa, Jordann, Avery, Evelyn and Remington; a large extended family including Elaine Forbes and many, many friends.
Born in Grand Bank, Newfoundland, Max had a distinguished journalism career spanning more than five decades. He retired in 2010 after 37 years as anchor and News VP at CJOH/CTV Ottawa. His honours include the Order of Canada, the Order of Ontario, and honourary degrees from the University of Ottawa and Carleton University. Max was a relentless community builder in the Ottawa region, helping to raise over $130 million charitable dollars.
You are invited to Celebrate the Life of Max Keeping at the Canadian Tire Centre, 1000 Palladium Drive, on Tuesday, October 13th at 12 noon. Arrangements in care of the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry.
In keeping with Max’s “Lifetime of Giving” in memoriam donations are encouraged to the Max Keeping Fund for Kids at CHEO or the Ottawa Senators Foundation.
