Condolence: I got to know John quite well during a wine tasting tour of Italy a few years ago. We had a mutual interest in mining and had many wonderful conversations. John was instrumental in having me awarded with a fellowship in the Canadian Academy of Engineers. I am very grateful to John and will miss him.

Condolence From: Denis Walsh
Condolence: I first met John while running to the office in Bell's Corners, It must have been a particularly miserable morning as I tried hitch a ride up to last stretch as John stopped asked where I was off too, with my answer he informed me that he was the new director.
He turn out to be a good man and great mentor over the next 12 years that I work and MRL through his efforts in expanding the operation I got to live in several area of the country and enjoyed it all.

I remember attending many meetings of the CANMET Management Committee with John over several years, and also John's role in the CIM, especially in support of the Ottawa Branch.
