Obituary for Lillian Marie Lamy (Degenmann)

Lillian Marie Lamy (Degenmann)
Lillian Marie Lamy (Née Degenman) passed away in Kingston on August 14th, 2017. Mom was born on September 24th 1923 in Royat France and was the cherished daughter of Constant and Alice Degenman. At the age of 22 she married the love of her life Jean Lamy and moved to Canada arriving by ship in Halifax in 1946. Jean’s military career gave them both an opportunity to travel the world and the privilege to meet some fascinating people who often became lifelong friends. Their love of golf kept them busy during their retirement and they enjoyed many years as members of the Royal Ottawa Golf Club. Lillian and Jean spent 59 happy years together until Jean’s passing in 2005. Mom had a true zest for life. Throughout her lifetime she spent hours volunteering for various charities and was active in politics. She loved music and art and was a voracious reader. Her love of cooking inspired many an incredible meal! Grand Maman’s roast chicken was an all-time favourite. She will be missed by her daughters Françoise (Chris), Christine (Brian) and her grandchildren Michel, Renée (Brandon), Madison, D’Arcy, Breanne, Keara, Teagan and her most beloved cat Alfie! We would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the caring and dedicated staff at, Briargate Retirement home and to the equally caring staff at Premium Home Care. To Shireen and to Tammy thank you for caring about our Mom and treating her with dignity love and respect. Mom’s smile was dazzling and her laugh genuine, she was elegant and charming. Where ever you may be Mom, we know that you are at peace and will be watching over us. To honour Mom’s love of all creatures’ great and small we would appreciate donations to Big Sky Ranch in lieu of flowers.
