With sad hearts we regret to announce the passing of Jim Logan, long time resident of Ottawa who went home to be with the Lord in Kingston, Ontario at the age of 97. Survived by his wife Marion Rae (nee Gee), he was pre-deceased by his first wife Cecilia Calderwood in 1981 and his second wife Dorothy McGirr (McClain) in 2011. Left to honour his memory are his children Robert (Heather), Fred (Kathy), step-son Ron McGirr (Valerie), grandchildren Sarah, Stephanie (Adam Maltais), Emily (Tim Everett), Kelly, Stephen, Kevin and five great grandchildren. He will also be missed by Marion’s children, Pat and John Rae and their families. Jim was born and raised on a farm near Thorndale, Ontario and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII at the age of 21, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross for outstanding service to his country. He earned his Doctorate of Philosophy in Biochemistry from the University of Western Ontario, which launched his career at Health Canada in Ottawa, receiving the prestigious Ames Award from the Canadian Society of Clinical Chemists for outstanding achievements in clinical chemistry. He raised his two sons in Ottawa and remained there until 2012 when he married Marion and moved to Kingston. Jim enjoyed spending time outdoors in his youth fishing, swimming and skiing, and in his senior years watching baseball, hockey and enjoying time at the cottage with his family. He was a wonderful Dad who lived his whole life loving the Lord and his family. We thank God for blessing him with a long life, and take comfort in knowing his deep Christian faith has secured his eternity in heaven with our Lord and Saviour.
