Obituary for Marjorie Pearl Morgan (Toll)

Marjorie Pearl Morgan (Toll)
Marjorie Morgan (formerly Pearson) nee Toll

Peacefully and with her family at Ottawa’s Civic Hospital on the 9th of June, 2017 in her 87th year.

Predeceased by her husbands, Keith Morgan (2013) and Gerald Pearson (1962). Loving mother of Dianne, Joan (late Don), Hugh (Maggie), and step-mother to Leslie (late Gail), Christine (Jeff), Jim (Karen), Mary (David) and the late Susan. Grandmother of 15; great-grandmother of 5. Sister of Gordon Toll (Beverly), and Roy Toll (Helen); predeceased by sisters Lillian, Leotta, and Vera, and brothers Nelson, Leslie, Norman, Arnold, and Orval.

Marjorie enjoyed visiting over tea, playing euchre at Rideau Park United, and always turned a blind eye to “creative” Scrabble play. She loved having the grandkids over to swim at the pool, and was happiest surrounded by friends and family at Shea Lake. She lived a life of honesty, integrity, and faith; she will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. Though the Lord has called her home, she lives on in the hearts and memories of those who love and cherish her.
“i carry your heart with me (i carry it in my heart)”
– e.e. cummings, poet

For those wishing, donations may be made to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor) on Thursday, June 15 from 5-8pm and on Friday, June 16 from 11am until time of the service at 1pm. To be interred at Ramsayville Cemetery at a later date.

Thank you to the congregation of Centretown United Church for their many years of fellowship and for their care and support over the last few months. Special thanks to the many attendants, nurses, and doctors who cared for Marj at the Civic Hospital and at Saint-Vincent’s Hospital. A very special thank you to Dr. Anusha Jahagirdar for the compassionate care she provided to Marj and her family.

You can shed tears that she is gone
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her and only that she’s gone
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back
or you can do what she’d want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on
- David Harkins, poet

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
- Psalm 121
